A Turkish young composer who was born in Kdz. Eregli has come into contact with music through rock and electric guitar. In 2010, he arrived in Italy and studied composition with M° Claudio Perugini, and piano with M° Sandro Rancitelli at the Conservatory of L’Aquila “A. Casella”. In 2016 he earned the Academic title with the highest marks, and his orchestral composition “Anatolia” was performed in public concerts in many Italian cities by the Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese directed by Nil Venditti.  The same year he started to study Master's Degree in Film Music Composition in the same conservatory with M° Carlo Crivelli.

In 2017 he participated “Insieme Music Festival” of Perugia and his compositions were performed by violoncello player Francesco Pepicelli and violin player Paolo Franceschini. And the same year started to collaborate with mandolin virtuoso Francesco Mammola and Ciurlionis Quartet and his compositions were performed in Vilnius, Plunge – Lithuania. And transmitted by LRT, (Lithuanian National TV and Radio). For Francesco Mammola and Ciurlionis quartet, he wrote an original composition, “Tombik” in which Francesco Mammola discussed his thesis on master's degree study in mandolin.

In 2018 he participated “MusAnima Music Festival” with his orchestral piece “Çelişki”. Composed for Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese, performed in public concerts in Teramo, Pescara, and L’Aquila directed by Marco Moresco. He composed a string quartet and dedicated it to Ciurlionis Quartet which earned first prize in the “Cortemilia International Music Competition” later in October and performed in public concerts in Birzai, Trakai, and Klaipeda – Lithuania.

On September 2018 he earned the II level of Academic title (Master’s Degree in Film Music Composition) under the guidance of M° Carlo Crivelli and earned it with the highest marks, lode and “Menzione d’Onore”. For his thesis of Master’s Degree, he proposed his version of “Easy Street” by Charlie Chaplin. The same year for the cinema he collaborated with Turkish director Aycan Koptur and wrote the original music for her film “Catharsis”. And he started to work as a “Composer in Residence” at Musica Vitale Association, Vilnius, Lithuania for one year. His music pieces Anatolia, Rüzgar, and Tombik has been published by Da Vinci Music Publishing in 2019. During his “Composer in Residence” time he composed many chamber and orchestral pieces Such as “Asi” for Baltic Sextet and “Naif” for l’Ensemble Baroque "Réunion de Musiciens". He gave seminars about “Composer, Composing and Different Work Possibilities in Composing Area Today” and he made a radio interview with Vita Ličytė on "Young Composer in Vilnius" on LRT Radio. In July 2019 he collaborated with Pierpaola Ippoliti for the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing Astrophysics Seminar and he composed music for two dedicated videos of the event. For cinema he collaborated with Carla di Ilio for her original short movie “La Rosa Dimentica” and he composed its trailer and teaser videos’ music. He is also an active performer as a pianist and gave two concerts in Turkish Embassy upon requests by Exellences Turkish Ambassador Aydan Yamancan.

He is actively engaged in the fields of music and computer technology, maintaining constant communication with industry-leading software development teams such as Sibelius Ultimate and Noteperformer. On October 29, in celebration of Turkish Republic Day, he performed a concert at Kempinsky in Vilnius, Lithuania, upon the request of Turkish Ambassador Excellence Gökhan Turan. During the concert, he showcased his piano arrangements of two Turkish folk songs.

In early 2020, he established his own YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/ilkaybora where he launched the highly popular "Lightning Sibelius" tutorial series. This series focuses on advanced composing, orchestrating, and engraving techniques within the Sibelius Notation Software. The response from the audience has been remarkable, with numerous views and positive feedback. Ilkay has conducted numerous Sibelius lessons and seminars, sharing his expertise in music engraving.

The "Lightning Sibelius" series continues to thrive and has gained a significant number of views from viewers around the world, steadily increasing in popularity. These tutorials provide a valuable resource for aspiring composers and music enthusiasts, offering insightful guidance and tips.

In the same year, Ilkay Bora Oder embarked on a collaboration with the exceptionally talented piano teacher from the United States, Sueanne Shimabuku Metz. Their partnership began as they joined forces to support the non-profit charity organization called "88KeystoCure." Ilkay's contribution to this cause involved creating several orchestral arrangements and engaging in video editing work.

Their collaboration extended beyond the shared commitment to charity, as they developed a strong friendship along the way. The bond they formed through their shared passion for music and philanthropy continues to flourish, fostering a beautiful and enduring partnership.

In late 2020, Ilkay Bora Oder embarked on a significant collaboration as an engraver with the prodigious composer and pianist, Kenneth Xiaoling. This collaboration revolves around a remarkable project involving concerto transcriptions of renowned maestros for piano solos. Notably, some of these scores have never been transcribed for piano solos before, making the project historically interesting and artistically valuable.

Among the notable works included in this project are "The Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Op. 43," Mendelssohn's "Piano Concerto No. 1 in G minor, Op. 25," and Rachmaninoff's "Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor, Op. 30." Ilkay's expertise as an engraver contributes to the meticulous and accurate representation of these masterpieces.

The collaboration between Ilkay Bora Oder and Kenneth Xiaoling remains ongoing, as they work diligently on this ambitious project.

In 2021, Ilkay Bora Oder embarked on an exciting collaboration with Yves S. Their joint efforts were dedicated to the re-orchestration and audio realization of historical music materials from esteemed composers such as Musard, Jullien, Tolbeque, Tadolini, and more. Ilkay took on the task of recreating over 60 orchestral arrangements and producing audio mockups specifically tailored for antique dance groups, enabling them to bring these timeless compositions to life through dance.

One remarkable outcome of their collaboration was the re-orchestrated audio and full-score version of Leopold Tadolini's magnificent Grande Waltz. This piece, originally dedicated to the esteemed King of Belgium, Sa Majesté Léopold 1er, in 1837, had lost its orchestral score over time. Ilkay's meticulous work allowed him to reconstruct the score and compile it into a book. As a gesture of appreciation, they generously gifted the re-orchestrated audio and complete score to the prestigious Royal Belgium Library, and they received a heartfelt thank-you letter from the royal family in 2022.

Continuing his trajectory in the music industry, in mid-2021, Ilkay forged a collaboration with Avid, the industry-standard Music Technology leader. As an esteemed author, he launched the "Lightning Sibelius" blog series in Avid Resources. In this series, he delves into the lesser-known features and advanced techniques of the Sibelius notation software, providing valuable insights and knowledge to fellow musicians and composers.

In 2021, he collaborated with Harun Korkmaz, supported by the Turkish Ministry of Tourism and Culture, on a short movie titled "Kıspet." He composed the original soundtrack and orchestrated all the pieces for the film. The movie has received significant recognition and acclaim at numerous national and international festivals, winning several prizes.

In 2023 April, he meticulously engraved a Haydn Sonata Contents Page to serve as an example for the industry-leading music notation software, Avid Sibelius. Beginning with the 2023.5 version, the score has been included as one of the showcased examples within the software.

In 2023, he achieved a remarkable feat by winning the first prize at the esteemed Wanda Landowska Harpsichord and Composition competition in Terlizzi, Italy. His composition titled "Naif" for the harpsichord trio impressed the judges and earned him this prestigious award.

In October 2023, he was invited by the Paris Conservatory, specifically by the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, Jazz Department, to conduct a two-day seminar on the effective use of Sibelius titled "Lightning Sibelius." Subsequently, he repeated the same seminar at Vytautas Magnus University in Lithuania/Kaunas and the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Italy/Rome, thus embarking on a Lightning Sibelius Europe Tour.

Upon returning to Turkey, he delivered the same seminar at the Akdeniz University State Conservatory on December 27th. Ekim 2023'te, Paris Konservatuvarı tarafından (Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris - Jazz Department), "Lightning Sibelius" ile ilgili etkin bir Sibelius kullanımı üzerine iki günlük bir masterclass düzenlemesi için davet edildi. Nel 2017 ha partecipato all’ “Insieme Music Festival” di Perugia e le sue composizioni sono state eseguite dal violoncellista Francesco Pepicelli e dal violinista Paolo Franceschini, e nello stesso anno ha iniziato a collaborare col virtuoso di mandolino Francesco Mammola ed il Quartetto Ciurlionis, e le sue composizioni sono state realizzate a Vilnius, Plunge, Lituania, e trasmesse da LRT (Lithanian National TV e Radio).

Ha scritto la composizione originale “Tombik” dedicando a Francesco Mammola ed il quartetto Ciurlionis, e su di essa Francesco Mammola ha discusso la sua tesi di master in mandolino.

Per la sua tesi di Master ha proposto una sua versione di “Easy Street” di Charlie Chaplin. Nello stesso anno ha collaborato col direttore turco Aycan Koptur scrivendo musica per il suo film “Catharsis”. Ha poi iniziato a lavorare come “Composer in Residence” alla Musica Vitale Association di Vilnius, Lituania per un anno. I suoi pezzi musicali Anatolia, Rüzgar e Tombik sono stati pubblicati da Da Vinci Music Publishing nel 2019.

Per quanto riguarda il cinema ha collaborato con Carla di Ilio per il suo film corto originale “La Rosa Dimentica”, e ha composto la musica del suo trailer e dei teaser video. Inoltre è attivo come pianista ed ha dato due concerti nell’Ambasciata Turca sotto richiesta dell’Ambasciatrice Turca Eccellenza Aydan Yamancan.

È un attivo protagonista nell'ambito della "Music Technology" e mantiene costanti contatti con i team di sviluppo dei software di punta dell'industria come Avid, Sibelius Ultimate e Noteperformer di Wallander Instruments.

Ad ottobre 2019, in occasione del festival del Giorno della Repubblica Turca, ha tenuto un concerto presso il Kempinsky di Vilnius, in Lituania. Su richiesta dell'Ambasciatore Turco Gökhan Turan, ha eseguito personalmente la sua versione arrangiata al piano di due canzoni folk turche.

All'inizio del 2020, ha lanciato il suo canale YouTube, https://www.youtube.com/ilkaybora e ha avviato la serie di tutorial chiamata "Lightning Sibelius". La collaborazione tra i due artisti continua a prosperare.

A metà del 2021, ha avviato una collaborazione con Avid, leader nell'industria della tecnologia e degli standard. Iniziò a pubblicare una serie di blog chiamata "Lightning Sibelius" su Avid Resources, focalizzandosi sulle funzionalità meno conosciute e sulle tecniche avanzate di questo software di notazione.

Nel corso del 2021, ha collaborato con Harun Korkmaz per la realizzazione del film cortometraggio "Kispet", sponsorizzato dal Ministero del Turismo e della Cultura Turco. In questa produzione, ha composto la colonna sonora originale e orchestrato tutte le musiche. Il cortometraggio ha ottenuto un notevole successo in numerosi festival nazionali e internazionali, e le musiche sono state pubblicate nell'agosto 2022 su piattaforme digitali come YouTube Music, Spotify e Apple Music.

Nell'aprile 2023, ha accuratamente inciso una Pagina dei Contenuti della Sonata di Haydn per essere utilizzata come esempio nel rinomato software di notazione musicale, Avid Sibelius. A partire dalla versione 2023.5, lo spartito è stato incluso tra gli esempi presenti nel software.

Nel 2023, ha raggiunto un risultato straordinario vincendo il primo premio al prestigioso concorso di clavicembalo e composizione Wanda Landowska a Terlizzi, in Italia. La sua composizione intitolata "Naif" per il trio di clavicembalo ha impressionato la giuria e gli ha valso questo prestigioso riconoscimento.

Nell'ottobre 2023, è stato invitato dal Conservatorio di Parigi, nello specifico dal Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, Dipartimento di Jazz, per tenere un seminario di due giorni sull'uso efficace di Sibelius intitolato "Lightning Sibelius". Successivamente, ha ripetuto lo stesso seminario presso la Vytautas Magnus University in Lituania/Kaunas e presso il Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Italia/Roma, realizzando così un tour europeo denominato "Lightning Sibelius Europe Tour".

Dopo essere tornato in Turchia, ha presentato lo stesso seminario presso il Conservatorio di Stato dell'Università di Akdeniz ed è stato incluso in un articolo di 4 pagine chiamato "Lightning Sibelius" nel numero di dicembre della rinomata rivista musicale turca, Andante. Le prime critiche lo descrivono come un compositore "appassionato" che comprende il valore della musica e dei ritmi della sua terra d'origine, della sua storia nel mondo del rock e, soprattutto, della grande musica occidentale.
